On the subject of music ed vs performance I think every school has one that is more "superior" at my school it was education. I do not think one is better than the other though.

let's just put it this way. where would music performance majors be without their music educators? while i'm not putting one above the other, as a music education major i have to learn pretty much every instrument in addition to showing proficiency on a primary and secondary instrument. at my school the music ed majors are double majors with only 6 elective credit hours. most programs i've heard of for music ed are a lot more intensive than performance.

I have nothing more to contribute to this conversation. It’s up to you guys to fight this out now.

I just wanted to comment on the recent anon question. I don't think it's fair to compare the two or put one above the other. Both music ed and music perf have their own individual difficulties. Those who claim otherwise should try and get off their music major high horse.

Precisely. The same can be said of any two majors. “Difficulty” is impossible and meaningless to compare between college majors.

The music education major is MUCH more intense than the performance major. I seriously don't understand why you posted a meme that called music ed majors "second class citizens". At our school, the performance degree is seen as a cop out.

Are you serious? We already had this conversation. That meme was poking fun at the fact that music ed majors are frequently seen as and treated like second-class citizens by performance majors. It was not suggesting that they actually are second-class. It was, in fact, submitted by a music ed major. jfc.
